Looking for the best US airport playgrounds? We have you covered. While traveling with children can be a bit stressful, it’s also rewarding. But sometimes travel means delays or long layovers. Thankfully, there are airport playgrounds that help to make the time pass by a bit more quickly.
Here’s a list of Kid Friendly Airports with designated play areas and where you can find them:

1. Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International (BWI)
Airplay: BWI has an aviation-themed play area. The designated space has a mini Air Force 1, mini-propeller plane, and more. Airplay also has seats positioned along the walls equipped with charging stations for the parents and caregivers. Airplay is located in the main terminal in the Observation Gallery between Concourse D and E.
2. Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
Kidport: These aviation-themed play areas are located in three terminals. The playgrounds offer climbing structures, a kid-size replica of the BOS control tower, and a baggage-claim slide. There are also infant and toddler play areas.
The Kidports are only accessible after security. The Terminal A Kidport is in the satellite building by Gate 18. The Kidport in Terminal B is in the retail corridor between Gates 15 and 16. The Terminal C Kidport is located in a space near Gate 25.
3. Indianapolis International Airport (IND)
The Indianapolis Airport has two soft play areas, which are located in both Concourse A and B. The play space features soft structures including a mock airplane, luggage, and clouds for the kiddos to climb and play on.
6. John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport has two play areas: the Amazon Tumble Leaf Playground near Gate 12 and JetBlue’s Junior Play Space, which is located near Gate 26.
7. Las Vegas McCarran/Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
The Las Vegas airport play area has a kid-sized control tower and a mock jet engine for children to play on in Concourse D, on the second floor above the rotunda. For older children, the Howard W. Cannon Aviation Museum, located above the baggage claim area on Level 2, has interactive videos, a vintage Cessna, and old newspaper clippings.
8. Miami International Airport (MIA)
Plane Fun: This play space has 6 different areas for kids to play. There’s a control tower, and it plays real conversations between the control tower and pilots. There’s also a model cockpit. Plane Fun is located after the security checkpoint in Concourse E, near Gate E5. The play area is also accessible after security in Concourse D.
9. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
The Phoenix airport has four play areas outfitted with padded climbing areas after the security checkpoint. They are located in the upper concourse areas of Terminals 2 and 4.
10. Seattle/Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
Sea-Tac Play Area: This large play area (1400-square feet) has a soft foam airplane, a control tower, and a baggage cart for children to climb on. This playground is located between Central Terminal and the A Gates.
